The recently announced Elinchrom THREE is a portable 1.6kg location flash that has an inbuilt Li-Ion battery allowing up to 525 full power flashes.

With the dimensions of only 24.5 X 10 X10 cm without tilt head and light dome, it makes it easy to lob a couple of units in a backpack for easy transportation.

A large touch display resides on the back of the unit for easy control of the 6 stop power range. Otherwise, you can use an Elinchrom smart phone app, or control it through a TTL / manual flash trigger. A high sync speed (HSS) up to 1/8000s is available to ensure you can use wider apertures when shooting in bright daylight.

Charging is made simple by only having to use a USB-C cable. This allows you to use a variety of wall or laptop chargers to cut down on weight while travelling. You can also charge it while it's operating on location using a high capacity powerbank.

It features a 20W bi-colour LED light that can be used as a modelling light for strobe or video light. The equivalent power of the light is 120W, with temperature control between 2700K to 6500K.

An interesting inclusion is that you can adapt the unit to take Profoto modifiers via an OCF modifer mount.

An availability date in Australia hasn't been announced at time of writing, but a single head kit is listed at AU$1,599 – while a duel head kit with backpack is listed at AU$2,999.
