Michael Teo has been named 2017 AIPP VIC Epson Professional Photographer of the Year. Specialising in fashion, advertising, and portrait, Teo also won the Portrait category. Before moving to photography, he was educated as a classical musician. “My greatest skills are in getting the best out of people, making them feel comfortable and relaxed in front of my camera so they can truly be themselves,” Teo said.
This year, the competition attracted a total of 885 images from 193 photographers. Run annually, the Victoria AIPP Professional Photography Awards are sponsored by Epson.
The state awards also act as a stepping stone to the AIPP’s national awards for professional print photography, the APPAs (the Australian Professional Photography Awards). State awards entrants must receive 80 points and above for at least two of their images to be eligible for the APPAs.
