Christian Vieler

Christian Vieler lives and works in his home studio in Selm near Dortmund in Germany. Always with him are his wife, Linda, and their three fur noses: Anni (Doberman), Tamml (mixed breed), and Alfred (dachshund).

Vieler studied German language and literature and worked as a journalist for many years before moving to photography. In 2013, he shot - more or less by accident - his first Dogs Catching Treats picture. He stuck to the idea, developed the style further and - when a PR agency approached him and circulated the pictures worldwide - "through no fault of my own" – it became a social media hit overnight. There were magazines, television, and book publishers knocking on the door and he felt completely overrun, having only ever made photos in the living room. In mid-2016, he quit his job and became a full-time dog photographer. The series, Dogs Catching Treats, is still the flagship of Vieler Photography, although Vieler does also work on a variety of other projects.
