Julia Nance, Young Poise (Art (ATEP 2017))
Humpback Whales are powerful, beautiful, elegant and full of grace. They are completely accepting of our presence among them in the warm waters of Vava'u, in Tonga. These images capture both the independence and poise of young Humpback calves at the end of the whale season in Tonga. Before their journey back to Antartica, we experienced the privilege of swimming with these beautiful mammals in the last weeks of their time in the warmer waters. Being the end of the season, we were lucky to interact with the calves as they swim a little away from their mothers, right up to us to have a good look.
