WINNER
Graeme Passmore doesn’t consider himself just a photographer,
but rather an all-round creative. Before studying an Advanced
Diploma of Photography at Photography Studies College,
Melbourne, he had a history in drafting, architectural design
and graphic design that flows throughout his photographic work.
Extensive travels through three continents led to new avenues of
inspiration as he searched to understand people, cultures and
life experiences.

JUDGES’ COMMENTS
“I think photographers need to be really
tight with their edits. Remember, judges
have no back-story. The image alone
needs to be powerful and communicate
something about the photographer’s point
of view or style. The style needs to be
unique as well, otherwise the images need
to be exceptional.”
“I’d like to see portfolios where the
photographer’s individual style shines
through, and more imaginative work
where the photographer has stamped
their personality on their portfolio. The
series of six images needs to appear as a
strong and cohesive set.”
“It’s a common thing to see young
photographers struggling to find a style,
presenting a mismatch of styles instead,
which is a big downfall.”
