Fujifilm launches big Instax Wide 400
Fujifilm has announced the Instax Wide 400, the latest in the company's Wide series of cameras that captures large, 3.4 x 4.25-inch instant prints on double-card-sized wide format film.
The hefty beast is the successor to the Instax Wide 300 which was released in 2014.
Fujifilm says the Instax Wide 400 has been simplified to integrate the camera’s power function into the camera lens, just like other modern Instax cameras.
In addition, there's a new self-timer function, and the Wide 400 also has an automatic exposure function that Fujifilm says enables better print clarity compared to the Wide 300.
The camera will automatically sense the level of ambient light when the shutter button is pressed and optimise the shutter speed and flash output accordingly. Fujifilm says this will result in photos that are properly exposed regardless of interior or exterior conditions.
The camera also has framing guides for both portrait and landscape orientations, and a series of different modes. There's a 'Normal' mode for subjects at standard distances of up to about 10 metres, and then for capturing distant scenery, at a distance of 3 metres or more, the lens can be turned to landscape mode, ensuring clear pictures.
Furthermore, the camera package includes a close-up lens, allowing users to capture subjects as close as 40cm without any blurriness or focus problems. The close-up lens also has an integrated selfie mirror.
The Instax Wide 400 will be available in Australia from July 1, and will set you back $229.95. A matching case is $29.95, and a 40 pack of film is $69.95.
