NiSi Circular Black Mist filter

The latest filter from NiSi, the Circular Black Mist, is designed to lower overall contrast while softening and enhancing highlights to create a more ‘cinematic’ feel to still images and video. The effect of the filter can best be seen when a subject is backlit with a strong light source; anything from natural light to street light to studio lighting.

According to NiSi, the flaring of bright light sources creates an 'ethereal glow' and softness that can be used to soften wrinkles and blemishes on skin, making it a useful addition to portrait or wedding photographers and cinematographers.

The NiSi Black Mist Filter comes in a circular filter for standard screw threads in 49mm, 67mm, 72mm, 77mm, and 82mm thread sizes. Effect densities are available in 1/8, ¼, and 1/2 for varying levels of diffusion and contrast reduction.

The filter has a brass frame and features NiSi's Nano Coating for easier cleaning and greater scratch resistance.  

Filters range in price from $89 (49mm) up to $149 (82mm).
