Panasonic’s LUMIX DC-GH5 is the company’s flagship digital single lens mirrorless camera. It introduces a number of world-firsts including 4K 10-bit 4:2:2 25/30p video recording (capturing over 1 billion colours) to SD Card and 4K quality video at 50/60 fps. The camera has a 20-megapixel sensor, with low-pass filter removed, and 5-Axis Dual IS 2 for outstanding stabilisation.
Other major features included a weather-sealed magnesium alloy body (splash, dust, and freeze-proof), large-capacity batteries, dual SD Card slots and powerful Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connectivity. Featuring 6K Photo, the DC-GH5 can record a burst of 18 megapixel still images continuously at 30fps with no buffer limit, so you never miss the decisive moment.
The camera is equipped with a 3.6 million-dot OLED EVF along with a 3.2-inch 1.6 million-dot resolution touch screen monitor. Panasonic’s Contrast AF with DFD (Depth From Defocus) technology has been further advanced to enhance performance when tracking moving subjects while the focus areas have been increased from 49 to 225. All focusing operations can be controlled with the new joystick located on the thumb position, so the user does not have to take their eye off of the subject.
The DC-GH5 also offers a host of other practical features for the exacting video professional. The durable shutter offers a life of around 200,000 releases, and a top shutter speed of up to 1/8000 sec, and up to 1/16000 sec with the electronic shutter.
