Anyone shooting video, and worth their salt, knows that great sound is a fundamental element in effective storytelling. Over 15 years in the making, the new RØDELink Filmmaker Kit represents the next generation of digital wireless systems and will prove to be invaluable in any serious videographer’s kit.
Using series II 2.4GHz digital transmission and 128-bit encryption, it is able to constantly monitor and hop between frequencies to maintain the strongest possible signal level at a range of up to 100 metres. With everything you need to start shooting wirelessly, the kit contains a receiver, transmitter and broadcast-grade lavalier microphone. The receiver features an OLED display with information on level, battery status, of receiver and transmitter, mute and channel selection, and can be mounted on a standard camera shoe mount, 3/8" thread or belt-clip. For added versatility, the shoe mount can be located in one of two positions.
Meanwhile, the lightweight transmitter can be fitted to a belt or clothing and features a locking thread to ensure the microphone connection is as secure as possible. RØDE’s omni-directional lavalier microphone is included in the kit to provide the highest possible audio reproduction quality. “I can’t wait to see RØDELink systems being used all over the world, helping independent filmmakers reach a level of audio production quality that was previously out of reach,” says Peter Freedman, RØDE’s founder and president.
Future kits in the RØDELink system will address specific audio solutions across film, news gathering, presentation and stage use, and will consist of a number of receiver and transmitter options.
