2016 REAL Australia Landscape Photo Awards
In 2015, The REAL Australia Landscape Awards attracted huge interest and entries of outstanding quality. This year, generous event partners are providing prizes worth over $50,000.
According to entrants, one of the most attractive things about this photo competition is the opportunity to win “real prizes”. Pamela Pauline, who took out 2nd place in 2015, said, “Certificates are all very nice, but winning a Lumix camera with lenses, an Epson printer with paper, plus other goodies, made entering these new awards very worthwhile. The winner of the 2015 contest was Mark McLeod.
Ken Duncan, well known for his vibrant panoramic landscape images, launched The REAL Australia Landscape Awards in 2015 to draw attention to the delineation between two very different approaches to photography. His personal style usually tends towards what he calls Photo Realism – as opposed to Photo Illustration.
The REAL Australia Landscape Awards provides a platform for artists who want to express their creativity through Photo Realism – presenting images that are “believable” and that give a true representation of the scene, with minimal post-processing.
“I was thrilled with the quality and quantity of images we received in the first year of this new competition”, Duncan said. “When we first launched the REAL Photo Awards, I had a strong sense that it would be well received and would grow to become a prestigious annual event. Now, with the support of our amazing event partners, and the photographic community, it seems that will be the case.”
Entries must be submitted online at www.realphotoawards.com by 30 June 2016, and will be judged by internationally renowned landscape photographers - Ken Duncan, OAM (Australia), Andris Apse (New Zealand) and Kevin Raber (The Luminous Landscape, USA).
