Kelly Tunney, Master of Photography I (M.Photog I), has been named AIPP ACT Professional Photographer of the Year at the 2016 AIPP Australian Professional Photography Awards which were held at ceremony in Canberra last week. Tunney was also awarded the AIPP Wedding Photographer of the Year, Highest scoring print overall (96 out of 100) and the Epson Signature Worthy Award.
“It was incredible to achieve such an accolade in front of my peers,” Tunny said. “The quality of photography in Australia, but Canberra in particular, is so high, and I never imagined I would win the big title.” In 2015, Tunney was also awarded the AIPP Australian Wedding Photographer of the Year, the first female to do so in 40 years.
Tunney’s award-winning photographs were made up of a submission of four wedding images. “The submission I put forward was my most diverse range of images to date. The images quite simply captured my favourite work,” she says. All the entries are judged over two days by a five-person panel of judges, selected for their skill, knowledge and experience.
