Photographer dies after falling from Chicago hotel

American photographer Eric Janssen (44) has died after falling from the 20th floor of the LondonHouse Chicago, a hotel in downtown Chicago. A report by CBS Chicago alleged that Janssen, neither a guest at the hotel, nor an employee, was trespassing at the time.

With over 4,000 followers on his Instagram feed, Janssen regularly shared images shot in abandoned, run-down locations, as well as from the rooftops of tall, city buildings. In his final Instagram post, he wrote: “Chicago has been an amazing experience. Made some new friends. Reconnected with some old friends. Had a really wonderful time exploring this great city.” He shared it on the day of his fall.

This is not the first time a photographer has died while trespassing high-rise buildings in Chcago. In 2012, a Rooftopping Photographer, Nicholas Wieme (23) died after falling down a smokestack on top of the 42-storey InterContinental Hotel.
