Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs of People
Quite possibly the most popular genre of photography, there’s probably nobody out there holding a camera who doesn’t want to improve their portraiture. Henry Carroll’s latest book, Read This If You Want to Take Great Photographs of People, presents conceptual starting points and invaluable technical tips for anyone interested in improving their people photography. It breaks portrait photography down into seven subject areas, including 'Composition', 'The Gaze’ and 'The Street', and includes inspirational images to illustrate the techniques and subjects being addressed.
The book also provides readers with practical insights into the ideas and techniques of a wide range of historical and contemporary masters giving them the opportunity to weave this into their own work and approach to portraiture. As well as this, scattered throughout the book are 'technical tangents' which offer invaluable practical guidance for basic lighting set-ups, kit, and much more. Your legal rights when taking pictures of people are also addressed with definitive advice provided by a lawyer.
