The APPA have been held annually for the past 40 years, and are the only professional photography awards in the country that require physical prints to be submitted for judging. More than 580 entrants submitted a total of almost 2,200 images to be judged as part of the AIPP APPAs. The 2016 awards were peer-judged anonymously over three days by some of Australia’s most recognised photographers.
