The cover for our celebrated edition, The Annual 2018, comes from UK photographer Jonathan Knowles. One of the leading advertising photographers of his generation, during his career, Knowles has photographed fire, liquid, and ballistic and explosive events.
The premise of this shoot was to capture the explosive, refreshing tastes of Dole Frozen Fruits. In collaboration with 101 London, Knowles worked with a Special FX team, and exploded strawberries and pineapples in his London studio. Only minimal retouching was required for this campaign, as he delivered an authentic and realistic view of a split second in time that would be unseen by the human eye.
