Call for entries for 39th annual Nikon Photo Contest

Entries for the Nikon Photo Contest 2022-2023 are now open. First held in 1969, it’s one of the biggest international photo contests in the world, aiming to provide an opportunity for professional and amateur photographers around the world to engage with one another. Last year, over 26,000 entrants from 150 countries submitted over 65,000 works.

The contest will comprise of a photo competition (theme: “Beloved”) and a short film competition (theme: “Next Steps”). The photo competition has a Single Photo category and a Photo Story category, while the short film competition will offer a Short Film category and a Super Short Film category.

Sarah Leen has been announced as the Lead Judge for the Nikon Photo Contest 2022-2023. In 2013, she became the first female director of photography for National Geographic magazine and National Geographic Partners. In 2020, Leen established Visual Thinking Collective, a community of female editors, teachers, and curators specialised in creating and managing visually driven projects.

Additional judges will be announced on the website as they’re appointed.

The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers. Entries close 13 February 2023.
