Canon Australia announces PRO-1100 printer
Canon Australia has announced the imagePROGRAF PRO-1100, a new A2, 17-inch class printer that is the successor to the almost nine-year-old PRO-1000 announced back in 2015.
Canon describes the PRO-1100 as being designed specifically for professional photographers and serious enthusiasts, and it takes pigment ink, known as Lucia Pro II, newly developed for the printer. The PRO-1100 also shares the same print head, inks and software as larger Canon printer models like the imagePROGRAF PRO-6600, PRO-4600, and PRO-2600.
Compared to the PRO-1000, the PRO-1100 12-ink pigment system offers, according to Canon, a wider colour gamut which should deliver smoother colour graduation and deeper blacks and blues. The pigment inks are also highly durable. Canon says that prints made on the PRO-1100 using archival media can last up to 200 years — up from 60 years on the PRO-1100.
For those who like a matte finish with art papers, Canon says the matte black ink enhances black density, achieving rich, deep blacks that bring images to life - especially in black and white photography.
In addition, the printer utilises a Chroma Optimiser for uniform glossiness and refined expression on gloss papers.
The PRO-1100 also accepts a wide range of media. It maxes out with borderless prints on sheets of paper up to 17 x 25 inches, and the printer also supports roll prints and can make prints nearly 3.3 metres long. This is up from a max print length of 1.2 metres on the PRO-1000. Interestingly, despite the new features, the PRO-1100 is the same size as the PRO-1000.
Finally, Canon says it also will work with Canon's Professional Print & Layout software, offering 'seamless workflows so photographers can print with confidence.' As you might expect, it also has Wi-Fi and Ethernet connectivity, and a 3-inch LCD screen.
The new printed is priced at $2,049 RRP and is available in Australia from today.
