While we love Profoto, Broncolor, Elinchrom and Bowens studio lights, the Godox brand has been a gamechanger when it comes to considerably more affordable, yet still professional level monoblock studio flashes with their AD Pro series.
Leading the charge has been the AD400 Pro and AD600 Pro monoblocks (both released mid 2018) which can run via battery or mains power which makes them great for both location and studio work. They also utilise arguably the best, if not easiest to attach, lighting modifier system – the Bowens mount.
This week, Godox has unveiled the second iteration of its flagship outdoor strobe, the AD600 Pro II. Updates include enhanced flash duration, broader output range, and refined design and control features.
The user experience has been modernised with the introduction of One-Tap Sync via the new X3 Trigger, a colour-optimized display, a 40W bi-colour modelling light, and a more intuitive group identification indicator.
Although there are still many similarities to the original AD600 PRO, the updated light now provides flash durations ranging from 1/220s to 1/11,760s, with ten steps of adjustable power settings from full power (1/1) down to 1/512s. High-speed sync is up to 1/8,000s and there's also a separate Freeze Mode that offers an even shorter flash duration of 1/20,400s.
The Godox AD600 Pro II is available for order now with a RRP of $1,345.
