The Image Makers Association Australia (IMAA) was established to support members of the photographic community whether professional, emerging, student or assistant practitioners.
Connecting with all levels of photographers, IMAA is particularly interested in promoting those members who are starting out on their professional journey and last year introduced a Mentorship program to help.
The 2024 IMAA Mentorship program is now open to all emerging, student and assistant photographers who would like the opportunity to be mentored by some of Australia’s top photographers.
There are five mentorships available thanks to the generous support of five IMAA professional members, who volunteer their time for a 12-month period and make the program possible. Mentors this year include Lucas Allen, Tom Ferguson, Andrew Richey, Martina Gemmola and Garth Oriander.
Not only is there the chance to learn from professional, world-class photographers who are renowned in their sphere but there is also the opportunity for one successful applicant to win a package of photography equipment of their choice from Nikon.
The deadline for submissions is 30 May 2024.
Also from IMAA is an online member questionnaire open until 24 May. The IMAA is conducting an anonymous survey to gather data relevant to the business of photography. The questionnaire is an attempt at gaining an impression of the many and diverse factors that influence the income and expenses of professional Australian photographers in the current business landscape.
