Nikon has launched the eagerly anticipated Z8, which can be seen as a lighter (910g), smaller version of the 'combat zone' pro-level flagship model - the Z9 (1,340g). It can also be seen as the mirrorless successor of the Nikon D850 DSLR.
All the goodness of the Z9 including the 45MP stacked CMOS sensor, autofocus abilities and 8K internal ProRez RAW video has been carried over to the Z8. The main thing missing is the extended battery life and vertical grip, though you can purchase a vertical grip for the Z8 seperately if needed.
These tech specs makes it a direct competitor to the Canon R5 and Sony A7R V.
The Z8 will be available from the end of May / beginning of June and retail for $6,995
