If you are a wedding photographer or event photographer, you'd know of the popularity of photo booths. And let's face it - they may seem to 'lack photographic artistry', but guests seem to love them because they find it fun dressing up with the various props, and clients love them because guests walk away with a print or digital image – usually with their logo incorporated.

This week, OutSnapped – a NYC based physical and digital photo booth company, has launched its patent-pending Photo Booth technology called SnapShift.ai. It uses AI to create different cartoon versions (a.k.a avatars) of a booth user in a variety of different settings and backgrounds. They can then receive the image to their phones to share on social media.

The interesting thing is that while an AI version of yourself can be interesting – isn't it about being AT the event and usually with friends or event attendees? It kind of defeats the purpose of 'event photography'.

This being said, it could be a hit for pop-culture or mainstream events such as movie launches. The event producers can add their own background, clothing, props via AI. For example, the latest Indiana Jones film launch in Sydney gave away 100's of Indiana Jones hats as a promo which would have cost $1000's. By using the SnapShift.ai system, you could have users create exclusive avatar-Indies with his clothes, props and background to share on socials.
