Rode announces Wireless Micro – a content creators dream mic?
Rode has announced the Wireless Micro, a slimmed down, smaller and cheaper version of its Wireless Go audio mic - although the system is only compatible with smartphones.
Aimed at content creators on the go, the new system consists of two microphones, a receiver, and a charging case.
The mics pairs automatically with their receiver, making setup quick, and Rode says the mic caps are housed in a patent-pending 'acoustic chamber', which is designed to capture clear and intelligible audio while mitigating wind noise.
According to Rode, each microphone operates for seven hours. In addition, the charging case provide two additional charges for up to 21 hours of operation on the go.
The receiver can connect directly to a smartphone without cables, but it can also be connected via USB-C and Lightning.
Unfortunately the Wireless Go II/Pro’s built-in recording/backup functions are missing, but the system integrates with Rode Capture, a free iOS app that enhances audio and video quality for iPhone users.
Finally, each kit includes “dead cat” furry windshields to minimise wind noise.
The Rode Wireless Micro is US$149 ($228 AUD) and available to order at your local retailer or via the RØDE website.
