Founded in 2013, SmallRig has been consistently innovating and expanding its range of camera accessories, catering to both video and photography markets. As more photographers transition into hybrid shooters, the demand for versatile, lightweight gear grows. This is where SmallRig’s portable LED lights come into play, allowing for easy setup of simple 'talking head' lighting or background fill, making them ideal for creators on the go.

The latest light released by SmallRig is the RC 100B COB LED Video Light, which are bi-colour and output 20,100 Lux at 1m / 5600K with the standard reflector attached; or 4,610Lux at 1m / 5600K for bare bulb.

The units dimensions are 115 x 95 x 95mm and weights 700g. Image: SmallRig

Sizewise, they are touted to be 20% smaller than regular 100W LEDs, while also offering various ways to handle and power them. This size and power output makes it a good option for run & gun videography. Utilising a Bowens mount also means that there is huge array of cheap light modifiers available.

The lights come with several power options from USB-C input, an integrated V-Mount Battery, a 'Power Handle' with V-Mount battery holder, and NP-F970 battery mount.

Typically, the lights have dials for light intensity and temperature (2700K to 6500K); have a CRI of 97+ (which means they are colour accurate). Other obligatory light settings include 12 special lighting effects.

They come in two kit options.
1) Standard with light, swivel base, reflector and silicone diffuser ($339.00)
2) Mobile with light, reflector and NP-F970 base plate attachment and small handle. ($289.00)

Both are currently available to order with stock due around 7 October.
