The Mono Awards 2024 presented by Synology - The People's choice winners!

We're delighted to announce the three winners of the annual Mono Awards presented by Synology People's choice vote.

First, in the People category, Chitrangi Bhatt's The Window narrowly won with 166 votes on Facebook at competition close.

The image depicts Chitrangi's brother at the window in his new home.

In the Places category, Joy Kachina's Transpiration took out the most votes, with 226 at competition close. 

"Captured in northern Tasmania, close to home, I was captivated by the sight of a solitary tree bathed in the soft glow of the rising sun filtering through the misty forest," she said.

"As the sun's rays penetrated the foliage, glistening water droplets on the leaves of the tree gracefully lifted off, merging with the ethereal mist before dissipating into the morning air. It was absolutely magical."

And finally, in the Animals category, Karen McNally's Talon Touchdown bagged 173 votes, to take out the award for 2024. Her Great Grey Owl image was captured in the boreal forest habitat of Western Canada earlier this year.

"This owl had been hunting in a snowy field and flew back to the perch after an unsuccessful attempt plunging into the snow after prey," she explains. "The streaky patterns on their feathers and layers of contrast in their wings make the Great Grey Owl a wonderful black and white subject."

Each of our winners take home a 12 month print subscription to either AP or Capture magazines for their wins.
