Tokyo International Foto Award open for submissions

The 2023 edition of the Tokyo International Foto Award (TIFA) is now open for submissions. The aim of the award is to recognize and promote international photography talents, and provide them with the opportunity to showcase their work to new audiences in the creative community.

There are 10 main categories, for both Professional and Non-Professional/Student photographers, including Advertising, Architecture, Book, Editorial, Events, Fine Art, Nature, People, Portfolio, and Science. Entrants will be competing for the two main titles: Photographer of the Year and Discovery of the Year.

Apart from having their works exhibited in Tokyo and in an online gallery exhibition, the Photographer of the Year and Discovery of the Year will win a cash prize of US$3,000 and US$2,000, respectively. The category winners in both the Professional and Non-Professional sections will each receive a $100 cash prize.

In 2022, top honours were taken out by Alejandro Martinez Velez with Desolation, a shocking account of the war in Ukraine, and Andres Gallego with Hopper Essence, a series that pays homage to the iconic paintings of Edward Hopper through the lens of contemporary photography.
