US$40,000 in environmental photography grants on offer
The call for applications for the Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grants is now open with two US$20,000 grants available to support the development of a documentary project on the work of an environmental story over the course of 12 months. The Vital Impacts team will provide mentorship and guidance to the recipients of the grant over the course of its implementation.
The purpose of the grants is to support and encourage visual storytellers to create a long-term documentary photography project with local communities who are working to protect the environment and wildlife. The grants will fund visual stories that highlight solution-based environmental initiatives.
The submission deadline is 15 March 2023. Winners will be announced in April. A fee of US$25 applies, however this may be waived for economic hardship. It’s also waived for all applicants from developing countries. Fee waiver codes are available by e-mailing hello@vitalimpacts.org.
In addition to funding the Grant, Vital Impacts will be offering a mentorship program to the top 50 applicants for the Vital Impacts Environmental Grant. Participants will take part in a series of 12 classes with leading environmental and photographic figures. Mentorship recipients will be announced in March.
To make a submission and to learn more about the grants and the requirements, head to the Vital Impacts Environmental Photography Grants website. All applicants must be able to agree to and sign the Vital Impacts Environmental Grant Agreement.
