Video: Shooting street photography with Jeremy Paige in Hollywood
Originally from New Orleans, Jeremy Paige moved to the Hollywood Boulevard area in 2015 and now focuses almost exclusively on street photography in his surrounding neighbourhood.
Jeremy comes across as a very self-aware, nice guy whose shooting style ranges from brazen to openly friendly. While he generally has a non-threatening and disarming demeanor, this hasn't prevented him from having run-ins with some of the characters who appear in his photos.
For the past five years, he has been shooting film on a Nikon F4, which means he has developed a great sense of timing – often taking only one or two well timed shots to capture a scene.
Shooting on film also has that authentic grain and you know that there is solid proof that the image is an original tangible 'one-off'. It also goes to show that you don't need a new fandangled camera that shoots a million frames per second with eye tracking.
Initially he was influenced by his friend Brad Romano, but now has his own cinematic style. Other influences have been Fred Herzog, Jeff Mermelstein and Garry Winogrand.
