Winners of the Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3) competition announced
The results of the annual Prix de la Photographie, Paris (PX3) photo competition have just been announced with winners in eight professional and eight non-professional/student categories revealed.
Professional and amateur photographers from around the world were invited to enter, all vying for the title of PX3 Photographer of the Year, cash prizes, publication in the PX3 Annual Book, and inclusion in an exhibition to be shown in Paris as well as in galleries around the world. Categories in the competition included the following: Advertising, Architecture, Book, Fine Art, Nature, Portraiture, Press, and Special.
American photojournalist and co-founder of VII Photo Agency, Ron Haviv was named PX3 Photographer of the Year 2022 with his series, Ukraine- The Beginning..., which documents the first three months of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. The images provide an insight into the destruction and suffering that Ukrainians have had to endure. Haviv was also named Press Photographer of the Year.
Meanwhile Greek photographer Athanasios Maloukoswas named PX3 Best New Talent 2022 with an image from La Desolata, an important procession in the Christian world during Holy Week, in the village of Canosa di Puglia, Italy. His entry also saw him taking out the title of Portraiture Photographer of the Year in the non-professional/student category.
