Ben Harvey, A Day by the Sea (ANIMAL 2025)
I selected this portfolio to exhibit the creativity possible photographing wildlife by the ocean. Firstly a long exposure of a Pied Cormorant shows illustrates the chaos of the seaside environment, with the swirling ocean around a sharp subject, with slightly blurred wings as it slowly flaps to dry them. Second, a pair of White-bellied Sea-eagles entwined in a courtship display death spiral, breaking grip moments before plunging into the sea. Finally a Pied Stilt feeds in the shallows, backlit by a partially eclipsed moon, throwing an amazing orange across the scene.
