Erin Saxcoburg, A Little Life (TRAVEL 2024)
I have spent the best part of my twenties in countries that aren't my own. Last year I ventured to South Korea, Japan and Indonesia. I travel to seek the nuances of the everyday, people in their homes that are foreign to me, and to eat, literally, my way into a culture. I shoot film, I love the authenticity, the spontaneity, and the sacredness of a shot. I find glimmers in my little life and I shoot them on film. Here I captured a chef in a South Korean market, I sat down and ate her soup and dumplings. You'll also find a doe in Nara, Japan, who's angelic form and stillness translated so beautifully to film. A deliciously tropical Indonesian view, under a parasol. I call this series A Little Life as an ode to how humbling travel can be; an experience that makes me feel so small, but so important simultaneously.
