Jordan Robins , Above, Below & Somewhere In Between (Art (2018))

This is a collection of "over under" images, which have been captured with my camera enclosed in an underwater housing, captured in a single exposure. An over under is a style of underwater photography where you can see above and below the waters surface, created in a single exposure. An underwater flash is used to light up below the water and balance the exposure with the sky. In this series I have shot all of these images on sunrise and sunset to capture atmospheric skies paired with the patterns and textures of sand formations that lie below the waters surface. The intense colours in the sky are contrasted with the cool and calm water beneath the surface. Half of the images have been captured on still mornings and afternoons when the surface of the sea is calm. The other few images have been captured in windy conditions when the surface of the sea has been rough and the movement of white wash and waves on the surface has been captured. The overall result is a unique image, which helps to link the familiar terrestrial world with the alien marine world.

Images have been resized for web display, which may cause some loss of image quality. Note: Original high-resolution images are used for judging.
