Steve Day, After the Flood (BLACK & WHITE 2021)

These trees were once flooded to a depth of up to 7 metres in what was Lake Mokoan, in north-eastern Victoria. Lake Mokoan was a man-made lake and irrigation scheme which in 1971 flooded swampland and plains which killed thousands of trees. The lake has now been decommissioned to restore the landscape to a more natural wetland and woodland ecosystem in what is the largest wetland restoration in the southern hemisphere. The Lake Mokoan swamplands are now known as the Winton Wetlands.
