Leah Kennedy, Ambiguity (Art (2018))

Very rarely is something black and white, the world is complicated, unstable, full of misconceptions and exterior forces moulding us one way or another. Perceptions of a material, object or subject influence our interpretations. If this object is perceived negatively is it possible to show a version of it as beautiful? Is the image of an object beautiful, ethereal and ephemeral yet potentially repugnant at the same time stronger because of it? In this photographic series I will be exploring ideas of contrasts, contrasts in more ways than one. Black against white, ugly against beauty, negative against positive. This ambiguity is intriguing, it is the grey areas in life.
