Christine Ward, Amongst the Trees (ANIMAL 2023)

Here is a little collection of moody shots I have taken in the last year. I spotted the Butcherbird one day as I was walking through the forest. There was a calm feeling in the atmosphere that afternoon and it looked at peace. A common bird but they all have such interesting personalities and have amazing songs. I took the photo of the flying-fox just before sunset as it was zipping amongst the trees. A lot of the bats within the colony were moving around, preparing to look for food that night. I like to portray them in a calm/moody atmosphere while also spreading awareness about how vital their role is in the ecosystem. Lastly, we have the Osprey. Hunter of the skies. These birds are incredibly majestic and skilled hunters. This Osprey was happily preening itself on some dead trees and then it finally took off.
