Petra Matthews, As I Ebb'd With The Ocean of Life (LANDSCAPE 2024)

In my photographs, there is an essence of the ever-changing seascape, mirroring the transient nature of our own lives. The ocean, with its feminine energy, flows and undulates, much like the ebb and flow of life itself. It holds a profound symbolism, reflecting our own fluidity and constant evolution. Hidden within the waves, the shapes of seaweed and the enigmatic presence of rocks symbolize the veiled secrets within my personal journey. The bright blue waters and white foam represent the façade I present to the world, while occasionally revealing the stormy depths that lie beneath. As the waves crash upon the shore, resonating like the beating of my heart, they reshape the world around me, much like the healing process that mends the wounds within. The constant movement and transformative power of the ocean serve as a reminder that I too have the capacity to heal and grow.
