SEAN OKKAI., ASORKPOR - A Visual Exploration of Musical Vibration (BLACK & WHITE 2024)
Captured through the simplistic beauty of his black-and-white photography, ASORKPOR unearths the essence of Accra's musical soul by revealing a world where the streets become a stage, and the people become conduits of rhythm. Through my lens, I transports my audience into the dance clubs of Accra, where the pulsating vibrations from Asorkpor music set the city alive. ASORKPOR, as an experiential body of work, is a cymatic exploration of the musical genre called Asorkpor, emanating from within Accra. This visual exploration delves into the profound influence of musical vibration on mental and physical well-being, particularly in the post COVID-19 era. Through an immersive experience, I seeks to examine the correlation between the mass adoption of characteristically Ghanaian music into modern pop culture, and its impact on individual and collective health, to gain a deeper understanding of the transformative power of music in our lives.
