Nandagopal Rajagopal, Bharathanatyam - Navarasa - Part 1 (DOCO 2025)

Bharatanatyam is a famous Indian classical dance art form which is more than 2000 years old. This photo documentary portrays the various poses of a Bharatanayam dancer, depicting 'Navarasas' (nine emotional states, come from the treatise of Sage Bharata, who is considered the father of this art form and wrote the Natyashastra - a book which explains the art form in detail.). The artist is portraying the following emotions: Shringar (Erotic), Hasya (Humorous), Karuna (Pathetic), Raudra (Terrible), Veera (Heroic). The photos were taken in September 2024, as part of the dancer's graduation concert performance.
