Belle Tweedale, Bone Buttons (ART 2024)

A tale of greed, violence, and injustice that unfolded on a fateful day in April 1858, at Mount Blackwood. A body was discovered on a makeshift pyre on the edge of Korkuperrimul Creek. According to family folklore, the bone buttons from his coat were discovered amongst the ashes long after his death. Yet, even with the lingering existence of police and court records, insufficient evidence left him forever known as the 'certain man whose name is unknown. This leaves me to ponder the elusive essence of truth and whether it can ever be completely laid bare and/or actualised.
