Celia Furt, Boots On The Ground (SINGLE SHOT 2021)

During the 2nd wave, Melbourne was hit by a severe, torturous and endless lockdown from the beginning of August till the end of October – beginning of November 2020. During this period, we were not allowed to leave our homes from 20:00 to 06:00 (because of a curfew), travel beyond 5km, exercise for more than an hour, and visit people. The way restrictions were eased was slow torture, because even when we had only 10/15 cases per day for 3-4 weeks, we were still locked up and we couldn’t even protest against them. ‘Boots On The Ground’ with its tiny human on top of the boot, represents the dictatorship atmosphere that invaded Melbourne during these times.
