Michaela Scherr, Brisbane's cool blue architecture (Architecture (2019))
When surrounded by modern or contemporary architecture such as these six skyscrapers I’m never sure what catches my eye first. Maybe it's the striking impact the predominately blue structures have on their immediate surrounds. Or maybe it's their height, configuration of countless windows, or the constant movement of sky and cloud mirrored in their windows, or possibly the transitional colour of windows depending on weather and time of day and night. Whatever it is, the visual effect of the architecture extends outwards and often increases depth of perception. For me their windows pull together the surrounding buildings, the sky, trees and other greenery, into a cool blue urban community.
