Dan Ratner, Broken Light (ART 2025)

This series is an exploration of memory, movement and the porous edge of perception. Each frame embraces imperfection—figures dissolve into motion, shadows bleed into light, and clarity slips just beyond reach. The images reflect the fragility of presence and the way we experience others: fleeting, partial, emotional. By deliberately pushing the frame beyond legibility, viewers are invited to feel rather than decode. These photographs resist resolution. They are explorations of experiences in flux—where gesture and atmosphere eclipse detail. Experimental exposures and hand-held instability, the work seeks a rhythm that’s more poetic than literal. It asks: what remains when the subject disappears?

Images have been resized for web display, which may cause some loss of image quality. Note: Original high-resolution images are used for judging.
