Richard Perin, Can someone please explain this to me? (DOCO 2023)

In documenting life around me. I am often taking photos of situations or events that I can’t explain or that I don’t understand. Sometimes I might approach the subject and find out more, but mostly the moment or person moves on, and I am left to reflect. This also happens when I’m sitting down to review the photos, and where I turn start to imagine the narrative. It’s in these moments that I understand one thing that I love about photography. The interconnection between the photographer and the image. That without the directed gaze, there would be no real meaning.
