Pamela Punshon, Captain Morgan (PORTRAIT 2023)

CAPTAIN MORGAN Morgan is the Captain of the Fleet. Morgan likes to indulge. Morgan’s indulgence has consequences. Captain Morgan is my husband, George. We have recently retired and I have decided photography is my retirement project and George has a wonderful sense of humour that really complements my projects. We decided on this shoot, and we had as much fun designing Morgan’s outfit as we did shooting the image. We used George’s good suit jacket, which I covered with braid and ribbons and the appropriate badge above the left-hand pocket (a baby name broach!) and then we sat for a couple of hours working out how to fold paper boats. The shoot itself produced lots of laughter, particularly as the bath tipped on its own! Why else would you take photographs but for the fun and laughter produced?
