Myles Bennell, Carte de Visite - Portraits of the Sofitel (Student)
The Sofitel's marketing strategy is heavily based on the hotels French heritage. This is reflected with its decor, uniforms, daily rituals, and every staff member greeting guests with 'bonjour' instead of hello. This is the hotels most defining characteristic and is what sets it apart from other Luxury Hotel chains. I wanted to represent this heritage by portraying the staff in the style of renaissance paintings. This project was as much an advertising campaign as it was a personal journalistic project. Working in hospitality for 6 years I have developed a deep admiration for my colleagues who put everything into what they do, expecting very little in return. I hope that this series provides an opportunity to showcase the character of these talented individuals. (A total of 45 portraits make up this typology and the images are presented with renaissance style gold frames)
