Joanne Costanzo, Children of India (TRAVEL 2025)

India is home to almost 20% of the world’s population of children. The lucky ones live with their parents and siblings as part of a family unit. The children that are not so lucky have to fend for themselves on the streets. Many of then approach cars at traffic lights and beg for money. Others are sent to work at an early age to boost the family income. Despite the poverty, these children seem accepting of their life situation. Many of them will smile and wave at tourists, not always for money, but to practice their English and just say hello.
