Jeff Liang, Controversial Day (DOCO 2021)

After Christmas and into the new year, countless debates re-emerge on the controversial Australia Day almost like a yearly event; mourning or celebration, depending on how you look at it. This rally was in Melbourne on 26th January 2021. This year was no different but I experienced something memorable. I witnessed a large turnout of young people at the rally and it touched me deeply. Among all those debates and unsettled controversies, the younger generation today empathises with the hardships and sufferings of the Aborigines caused by previous generations. This is a sign of hope for the future of the country - at least this is how I look at it.
