Nicholas Walton-Healey, Cookey (DOCO 2021)
This series of photographs was produced in January 2020, and revolve around Gregory Brice Cook - 'Cookey'. Although renowned in Prahran for his busking, Cookey was previously a member of The Mixtures, the band responsible for the The Pushbike Song, which was highly successful in Australia and overseas during the 1970s. In the days before Cookey's passing, he invited me to spend a few days photographing his highly idiosyncratic and charismatic life. Cookey had a stage four cancer diagnosis and, true to his nature, chose to spend his remaining time surrounded by close friends in his Prahran apartment.
