Shuran Yang, culture comparison (Student (2019))

When I first immigrated to Australia I felt excited and sometimes confused by the cultural differences that I found everywhere here. Wanting to explore this, I have created a still-life series that is a cultural comparison between Australia and China. Using different cultural icons and items that represent these two countries, has allowed me to create humorous juxtapositions that represent my experiences here, as a Chinese girl living in Australia.
