Allen Koppe, Dancing Ghosts (ART 2023)
I have become mesmerised by the beauty of Australian native ghost gums. They are spectacular in their twisted individual shapes, almost as if frozen mid dance. Their smooth trunks and branches seem to glow with the light. These trees are iconic aspects of the Australian landscape and are vital to our healthy eco system. I photographed all the elements for this series using a Fujifilm GFX 50s camera then created a final collage or composite using Adobe Photoshop. A particular challenge for me with this series was my decision to use a wide panoramic format that was then broken up by the vertical lines of the trees. I used light and shadows to help create a graphic aspect to the images.
