Kathy Chapman, Day Tripper (ART 2022)
These 3 images are a part of a larger set which, on one level, tell a surreal tale of a visitor from the sea, exploring our land and attempting to understand and interpret what he experiences and encounters. But on a deeper level, the story is exploring what it is to move through the world feeling ‘other’. Feeling that you never quite fit in, never really connect or understand, and are never fully known or understood. I used a vertiginous green tint to reinforce the sense of strangeness and unease. I aimed to make each image stand alone as a small story on its own, as well as being part of the larger tale. Of the three images I have chosen for this entry, one is a composite and two are single images.
Images have been resized for web display, which may cause some loss of image quality. Note: Original high-resolution images are used for judging.
